Gucci: A Dive into Stanley Kubrick’s World

Gucci’s announcement of their latest campaign for the Autumn / Winter 2022 collection is a celebration of Stanley Kubrick’s arresting style. The rule-bending collection is titled Exquisite and is most certainly exquisite in essence. Whether it be gaudy colors counterposed with campy interior or earthy tones embellishing the confines of a spaceship, the looks give off an impression of meticulous indifference. It is precisely the oxymoronic nature of Kubrick’s style that shaped Michele Alessandro’s ideas.

In a recent press release, Michele said:

"I've always been charmed by cinema. For its power to tell stories that can probe human adventure and its drift.” 

"I've always imagined my collections as films able to convey a cinematography of the present: a score of stories, eclectic and dissonant, that can sacralise the human and its metamorphic ability."

The campaign features scenes from Kubrick’s The Shining (1980), 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), A Clockwork Orange (1971),  Barry Lyndon (1975), and Eyes Wide Shut (1999). Watch the full video below.
