Plein Plaza in Decentraland
It is clear that we are living in a time where technology and reality are intricately woven. The lines between these realities are blurred, if not completely diminished. The advent of NFTs (non-fungible tokens) and Facebook’s Metaverse has heralded this so-called hazy blur.
So, the interest of the fashion industry comes as no surprise. The designer Philipp Plein is planning a virtual Metaverse Fashion week (MVFW22) from the 23rd until the 27th of March in Decentraland.
The event is free and open for everyone (well, at least for those with internet access) and RSVP’s or invitations are not needed.
“Fashion must be democratic and opened to everyone and not only opened to the industry itself”, as Plein states.
His first digital capsular collection of outfits will be purchasable via the Metaverse. Consumers and avid fashionistas alike will be able to join the gathering with their own avatars. The attendees of the event will have the possibility to buy from the seven total looks from the limited-edition collection – ten pieces per outfit. A special catwalk set will also take place in the centre of PLEIN PLAZA. The location has been designed and created by "The Crypto King$”, a creative duo including the likes of Antoni Tudosci, a renowned 3D artist. Plein is also planning on hosting an after-party event at 8,30 pm CET with a live DJ set taking place at Plein Plaza.
