Blur to Release their LP, ‘The Ballad of Darren’
After an eight-year hiatus, the Brit-pop band blur returns with a much-anticipated new album, ‘The Ballad of Darren’. Recorded between London and Devon and produced by James Ford, the album comprises ten individual tracks and is to be released on July 21st. Though, the band also delivered a sleek salute by releasing the first track of their LP, ‘The Narcissist’.
‘The older and madder we get, it becomes more essential that what we play is loaded with the right emotion and intention. Sometimes just a riff doesn’t do the job.’ commented guitarist Graham Coxon in a statement. This too was shared by the lead singer Damon Albarn who added, ‘This is an aftershock record, reflection and comment on where we find ourselves now.’ Drummer Dave Rowntree said, ‘It always feels very natural to make music together. With every record we do, the process reveals something new and we develop as a band. We don’t take that for granted.’
Performing at the Colchester Art Centre today and at the Eastbourne Winter Gardens on May 21st, blur returns to Essex, a place where it all started. These warm-up shows are only a smaller part of their actual EU tour that is to kick off this summer. While their London Wembley Stadium show sold out in a couple of minutes, the band has added another show for the 9th of July. Make sure not to miss out on these.
