Tommy Cash announces Maison Margiela collaboration
TOMMY CASH launches a line of ironically co-branded merchandise and a track with Parisian fashion house MAISON MARGIELA. Alongside this, Tommy announces new music out in April.
The capsule includes a sweater, T-shirt, indoor loafers and packaged instant noodles. The limited edition is available from 16:00 GMT exclusively via Tommy’s webstore. The accompanying track entitled ‘Mute (by Maison Margiela)‘ sits as a truly unique piece of sound and like nothing Tommy has released before. Listen here: https://ffm.to/muteMM
The Paris-based fashion house is synonymous with uniquely unconventional principles. Maison Margiela crosses the fashion spectrum with its ‘Artisanal’ collection, which holds the Haute Couture appellation since 2012; through Co-Ed ready-to-wear and accessories. Today, Maison Margiela continues to push the boundaries of modern fashion while celebrating its unique heritage. Tommy Cash and Maison Margiela have also collaborated previously when the track ‘Horse B4 Porsche’ was used during Maison Margiela’s Artisanal S/S 2019 show. In addition, a co-branded loafer was used for the Tommy Cash art installation at Kumu Art Museum (‘Tommy Cash & Rick Owens. The Pure and the Damned’). Today, the loafer among other items belongs to the artist’s mock collection.
On the track and the collaboration, Tommy explains:
“For most of us, being awake means being bombarded by sound, specifically organised for consumption. The everyday noises of streets, nature and homes are constantly muted by whatever the algorithms bring. Instead of birds, we are listening to podcasts or anything recorded in the last 144 years. Instead of information about the actual surroundings, our ears are receiving an endless flood of escapist fare. Or 24/7 supply of news that keeps us attached to a steady source of anxiety. During the pandemic situation, it’s become even more so, as consumption of some content is replacing what is left of the “real life” more and more.
