Congratulations on your current tour and new album Fever Dream. What was the inspiration behind it?
Palaye Royale: We slightly lost our minds in quarantine, and every day felt more and more like a Fever Dream. We decided to use Prague as the backdrop for our album for many reasons. One big reason was that our last normal day before the world changed forever was spent in Prague. Making the album for over a year, we had the opportunity to fully obsess over every intricacy with our producer Chris Greatti. This album is by far the proudest we have ever been of something we have created.
You’re touring across the world right now. Are you enjoying the experience?
PR: It is an absolute privilege to be able to travel the world and become friends with all our fans! We embrace each culture, architecture, and tradition as much as we can. There are certain places in the world we have visited for the first time that felt like home instantly.
I presume there is a lot of pressure on tour. How do you all nurture your creativity?
PR: Isolation whenever you can get it is absolutely necessary. Having constant incense burning and moments of reflection are within our daily lives. Entering into a state of creative flow off stage is something that has to be fought for, and we always strive for that.
So, how do you evolve collectively as a group?
PR: We believe evolving collectively as a group starts with evolving as an individual first. Being three brothers, we are able to work and create together in such synchronicity in all fields. We have dedicated our existence to the pursuit of creating a legacy within art, music, and generational culture. The most important thing at the end of the day is constant persistence.
What is next for you musically? Is a new graphic novel coming along?
PR: The Fever Dream Album will be accompanied by a comic book created and written by Emerson. Connecting from the first graphic novel that was released, the book will be an expansion of the nightmarish circus-themed world. The Plans for the release are to be announced before the end of the year.
Finally, what do you think SID stands for?
PR: Subconscious Individual Destruction.
